Pore Vacuums--How do they work to keep your skin clear?

Have you ever noticed that sebum usually forms mostly around your nose and T-zone? This buildup of sebum creates undesirable shine and on occasion, welcomes a few uninvited guests: blackheads. This is actually more normal than you might think, and tends to happen to most people (all skin types!). Oil production isn’t something to be ashamed of by any means, it just indicates that your skin is working properly. However with that being said, there are ways to help remedy the buildup of oils and sebum at home!
What Are Pore Microdermabrasion Vacuums?
Pore vacuums are exactly what their title indicates: vacuums that use suction to remove excess oils and dead skin cells that can clog your pores. Pore vacuums are easy to use, handheld devices intended for use in the comfort of your own home and literally vacuum makeup residue, sebum, and other blackhead-causing debris from your pores in a swift and satisfying session.
Do Pore Vacuums Work?
At-home pore vacuums are effective at pulling the gunk from your pores using vacuum suction, but it’s important to use correctly and as the included instructions show. If used carefully and as recommended, pore vacuums are a far better alternative to squeezing or picking at your pores and skin.
The Benefits
- Considered safe for use at home when instructions are followed
- Removes debris from deep within your pores
- Lightweight and painless
- Low-cost
How to Use a Pore Vacuum
As with most skin care tools and devices, effectively using a pore microdermabrasion vacuum requires a little bit of skin preparation. To kick things off, you will want to wash your face and disinfect the tip of your pore vacuum to ensure that you’re working with a clean surface and tool. IF you also have a steamer at home, they’re great to use before extracting debris with a pore vacuum! They help “open up” the pores and prep them for treatment.
Once your skin is thoroughly prepped, you’re ready to start the vacuuming process. Instead of pressing the vacuum over a clogged area and just holding the device there, you want to move in light, circular motions. It’s best to continue to move the head of the instrument around like a wand using back and forth motions. You’ll spend anywhere from 3-5 minutes vacuuming your pores clean. Once you’re satisfied with the results, you will want to make sure you thoroughly clean the tip of the vacuum.
Aftercare
Once your pores are feeling fresh and clean and cleared out, you’re ready for a high-quality serum or mask to penetrate and rejuvenate even more! If your skin is feeling a bit tender or sensitive, follow up with a quality moisturizer or a sheet mask infused with hyaluronic acid.
